Project Role and Scope of Work

IH served as the prime consultant on this bridge repair project. The scope of work included coordinating inspections and developing repair schemes for 15 bridges ranging from the Garden State Parkway (GSP) northbound over Squankum Road (MP 95.4), a single span steel stringer superstructure, to the GSP southbound over Drag Channel (MP 28.5), a 19- span pre-stressed beam superstructure with concrete pier caps atop timber piles. In addition, IH performed a pile evaluation study for seven bridges.

Structural Engineering

IH's structural scope of work included the development of a prioritization list for the bridges recommended for repair in order of severity (primarily bearings and substructures). From the priority list, repair plans, supplementary specifications, and engineer’s cost estimates were developed for each of the bridges affected. The firm also prepared a Pile Evaluation Report.

Civil / Highway Engineering

IH's civil scope of work included designing complex Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT) plans with associated supplementary specifications and the engineer’s cost estimate.
