IH served as the prime consultant for the design and replacement of the Rosedale Road Bridge over Stony Brook. The existing bridge consisted of a stone-faced arch with a 70-foot long single span prestressed concrete structure, with an out to out width of 52 feet.
IH was responsible for the civil and bridge design from concept development through construction services. The structural design scope of work included 13 precast, pre-stressed box beams, bearings, abutments, wingwalls, and retaining walls on spread footings. The civil scope included the preliminary and final geometry design of roadway approaches, grading, guiderail, and right of way (ROW); and the preparation of construction plans, Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT), and detour route plans. IH oversaw the permit application for wetland and stormwater discharge impact mitigation, conducted the hydraulic analysis, and supervised the field survey. Consideration was given to Context Sensitive Design for the Princeton Historic District and the new bridge resemblance to the original structure. This project was constructed in just four (4) months and utilized cost-effective and innovative design solutions.
