Project Role and Scope of Work
IH served as prime consultant on this project. The scope of work included the design and preparation of construction plans to replace the existing deteriorated deck. The existing bridge was a three-span, simply supported, rolled stringer superstructure with a composite deck, 220’ in length and 39.5’ in width, spanning the divided Interstate 287 northbound and southbound.
Structural Engineering
The structural scope of work included a new composite High Performance Concrete (HPC) deck with an NJ barrier parapet on the south side and sidewalk with parapet on the north side. The civil design included guiderail attached to the bridge with upgrades for their entire length, approach roadway milling, and resurfacing.
Civil / Highway Engineering
IH's civil scope of work includes traffic design and control and the investigation and development of a detour plan to close access to the structure for the duration of construction.
IH also provided construction support services for this project including responses to requests for information, shop drawing review and field meetings.
